Google’s Chief Scientist recently revealed that #Artificial Intelligence now generates at least 25% of their code, demonstrating that AI-assisted coding is not just a gimmick but a real shift in software development.
The article argues that tools like GitHub Copilot, which has over 1.3 million paying users, have already changed how developers work.
Beyond Copilot, newer tools like Supercomplete, Cursor Compose, and Windsurf Cascade are taking AI-assisted coding further, predicting intent across entire files and automating multi-file changes.
Maybe AI coding assistants are moving toward a future where developers might only need to describe their desired functionality in plain language, and AI will handle everything from implementation to deployment?
Ultimately, will AI is making programming more about thinking and problem-solving rather than just typing? Will AI-powered development will soon be a necessity rather than an option?

AI is slowly taking over coding but many programmers are still sticking their head in the sand about what’s coming…
